JACQUES HEIM.  Parisian born Heim first formed, in 1981, the street theater group Artichoke in Paris.  Heim moved to Vermont where he earned a BFA in Theater, Dance and Film from Middlebury College, then moved to England where he was awarded a Certificate for Analysis and Criticism of Dance from the University of Surrey.  Moving to LA in 1989, Heim attended California Institute of the Arts receiving an MFA in choreography and teaching Video for Dance.  In 1992, Heim founded Diavolo Dance Theater in Los Angeles.  He has received numerous awards, most recently the1998 National Dance Project award to create “Catapult” which will premier November 1999 at Royce Hall.  Currently Heim is a professor at UCLA and in residence teaching at Cal State LA.
