WENDY
PERRON
began dancing and choreographing in NYC 30 years ago. She danced with many
choreographers including Sara Rudner, Kenneth King and Risa Jaroslow, and from
1975 to 78 she was a member of the Trisha Brown Company. In the early 90s
she was associate director of Jacob¹s Pillow. The Wendy Perron
Dance Company performed in NYC, nationally and in Europe from 1983 to 1994.
In 1997 Wendy received a commission by Lincoln Center Festival and created a
full-length work that included subway musicians. She has taught technique,
composition, improvisation, criticism, and/or dance history at Bennington,
Princeton, SUNY Purchase, Rutgers, NYU and the Trisha Brown studio. Wendy
writes widely on dance and performance, hosts programs on dance at WBAI Radio,
and gives slide lectures on “Judson Dance Theater“ and “Dance in the
Harlem Renaissance.“ In February of 2001 she was named NYC Editor of
Dance Magazine.
